At Ingham Road, West Hampstead, we had the privilege of reimagining this charming London home with a modern twist. The goal? To create a functional yet stylish rear extension that blends with the property’s original character while enhancing everyday living. This project goes beyond simple construction—it’s about redefining how the space feels, flows, and connects to the world outside.

Our Vision

This was more than just an extension; it was an opportunity to breathe new life into a family home. We envisioned a space that would elevate daily routines, offering both practicality and beauty. Our design introduced a sleek single-story rear addition, featuring a contemporary Crittall-style door and thoughtfully placed Velux windows to flood the home with natural light. The result? A perfect marriage of old-world charm and modern elegance.

The Journey

The project journey was as much about solving challenges as it was about crafting solutions. Here’s how we brought this vision to life:

1. Designing with Respect: We embraced Camden’s planning guidance to ensure the extension felt like a natural evolution of the home. Using matching brick and block cavity walls, we honoured the existing architecture while weaving in modern elements like slim-profile aluminium windows and a chic Crittall-style door.
2. Maximising Functionality: Every inch of the new space was carefully considered. From a spacious kitchen with state-of-the-art finishes to a loft hatch providing newfound access and light, the extension transformed how the home functions for its family.
3. Creating Harmony with Neighbors: We ensured the extension’s size and height complemented the streetscape, preserving the charm of Ingham Road. The design respects privacy and sunlight for neighbouring properties while retaining a generous garden space for outdoor living.
4. Attention to Detail: Behind the scenes, we tackled every detail, from energy-efficient insulation to discreet pipework placement. Our collaboration with structural engineers and planners ensured the project not only looked beautiful but also met all regulatory standards.
